70th birthday celebration for Mzee Pete O'Neal

Mzee Pete O'Neal, founder of UAACC
and
 Leaders of Tomorrow Children's Home
community outreach programs

The community gathered at UAACC to celebrate
Mzee Pete's 70th birthday, which is July 27!
What a blessed time we had!

The children sang; Furahia Dance Group and artists from the East Africa Hip Hop community performed; there were jugglers, acrobatics, and even poi fire dancing...we partied hearty!

Enjoy the vibe through these photos!

There was drumming...

...celebrating Mzee Pete!!

...gifts and cake and speeches....

Old comrades (that's  Bro Geronimo) helped to celebrate...

...and new babies were blessed!

It was a time of great joy for UAACC family...

...dancing....

...and hugs...

...and more dancing!!!

The celebrations went on well into the night with drumming and dancing
and singing and rhyming and even fire dancing!!!

JCB Makalla and Daudi brought special rhymes for Mzee...

Furahia Dance Group brought praise songs and dance...

Kamau and D.wee added their words to the mix...

...then Laurita brought the fire from France...

...and everybody was mesmerized by the poi dancing...

...whirling and twirling mo' fiyah well into the night!!

...the twins offered their juggling skills...

...the dancers were just warming up...

...and the traditional goat keki was waiting to be had...

Even with all the loud music and shouts and laughter and goat meat...the watoto started to crash...one by one!

...some of the watoto were starting to fight sleep...

...getting more glassy eyed...

...the crash of sleep begins...

...70 years and counting!!!
